Quick Spring Launch Checklist for Sailors

Spring is here, and it’s time to get your sailboat ready for the season. Before you head out on the water, take 30 minutes to run through this quick pre-season checklist.

Hull and Deck

Look for any cracks, blisters, or damage that occurred during winter storage. Check the waterline for growth and clean as needed.

Rigging

Inspect all standing rigging for corrosion or broken strands. Check turnbuckles and cotter pins. Look at running rigging for chafe.

Sails

Unpack and inspect your sails for any tears or worn stitching. This is the time to send them for repairs if needed.

Safety Gear

Check life jackets for condition and proper fit. Verify fire extinguishers are charged. Test your VHF radio.

A little preparation now means more time sailing later. Happy spring launch!
